Cannabis professionals discuss national opportunities to create synergies between major stakeholders incommunities. Successful partnerships have emerged from cannabis organizations who orient themselves as a point of connection between the communities of color, community organizations, faith based organizations, city government, and local colleges and universities

Earl Carruthers

Earl Carruthers is a business owner and the first POC dispensary owner in Michigan.  Earl was party to two historic Michigan Supreme Court cases, one changing the legal definition of ‘edibles” in the enactment of Michigan HB 4210.

 

Kebra Smith-Bolden, RN

Kebra Smith-Bolden is a true trailblazer, a respected healthcare professional with the vision, purpose and drive to transform the nascent cannabis industry. A registered nurse and founder of CannaHealth certification centers, Smith-Bolden is a medical marijuana (MMJ) expert on topics such as the use of cannabis as a therapy for emotional trauma and chronic disease, as well as dedicating her practice to the expansion and  preservation of statewide MMJ programs.

 

Margeaux Bruner; Cannabis Educator and Business Strategist, Quantum Mechanic Services

Margeaux Bruneris cannabis educator and business strategist at Quantum Mechanic Services, and prides herself on having an aptitude for conventional conversations on cannabis in unconventional spaces, such as Detroit Startup Week. As President of the Detroit chapter of Minorities 4 Medical Marijuana, Michigan Democratic Party Cannabis Caucus member, former Market Leader of Metro Detroit and West Michigan chapters of Women Grow :special projects include: Michigan Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol 2018 adult use ballot initiative, licensure and municipal opt in for the state of Michigan. In November of 2017 Margeaux was appointed by Gov. Rick Snyder to the Impaired Driving Safety Commission. The Impaired Driving Safety Commission was created to research the level of ingested medical marihuana/THC that may affect safe driving. The commission is housed within the Department of State Police where she represents qualified and registered patients under the state of Michigan Medical Marihuana Act.

 

Roz McCarthy; Founder/CEO, Minorities for Medical Marijuana

As the Founder/CEO of Minorities for Medical Marijuana, Inc., Roz McCarthy was named High Times 100 Most Influential People in the Cannabis Industry 2018. She is responsible for the day to day operation and is the chief strategist involved in developing advocacy, education, and marketing campaigns to promote awareness, information, and education about the efficacy of medical marijuana. It is a varied role that includes planning, marketing, advertising, public relations, event organization, fund development, sponsorship, and research. The work is often challenging and fast-paced.

Minorities for Medical Marijuana, Inc. (M4MM) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization focused on advocacy, education, and outreach as it relates to the social, medical, business, and public policy aspects of the cannabis industry. M4MM is a membership based organization working hard to make sure people of color have a true quantifiable opportunity to participate in this marketplace and are afforded adequate access to care despite their economic situation. M4MM currently has presence in 15 states throughout the country.

 

Scheril Murray Powell; Esq, Managing Parnter Scheril Murray Powell, P.A.

Scheril Murray Powell,Esq. is currently the Managing Partner at Scheril Murray Powell, P.A. She is also General Counsel for Minorities for Medical Marijuana and General Counsel for Patience with Patients. She is a graduate of Florida International University College of Law. She is a member of the Florida Bar, Dade County Bar Association, Broward County Bar Association, Palm Beach County Bar Association, and National Bar Association, and was selected by her peers to speak at the FIU Law Commencement Ceremony. As a Cannapreneur, Scheril is the President of Canna Headhunters, a staffing agency in the Cannabis Industry that connects Cannabis talent to opportunities.  She has been selected to present at a number of Cannabis Conferences including the Canna-Ed Conference hosted by the Florida Cannabis Coalition. Scheril is the regular Cannabis Law expert on Cannabis Law Radio every Saturday morning on Cannabis Life Radio. She presented at the National Association of Black Journalists and National Association of Hispanic Journalists Joint Conference in August 2016
