CannaCon Detroit. See You There, Motor City!

cannabis convention detroit

There’s long been a rivalry to become the first at anything between midwest states and Michigan has come a long way since becoming the first state in the Midwest to legalize recreational, adult-use cannabis. At CannaCon, we are proud to have provided the first landmark Detroit cannabis convention back in 2018, followed by an even more successful and transformational 2019 Detroit cannabis trade show event.

Now, CannaCon Midwest Detroit is back to help grow the Midwest’s cannabis industry through our one-of-a-kind in-person event chock-full of like-minded entrepreneurs who are helping to build this bold, new industry.

Medical Market in Detroit, Michigan

No longer just to relieve persons from the effects of a “debilitating medical condition” per 2008’s Michigan’s Medical Marijuana Law (MMMA) ballot proposal, cannabis is now being sold for recreational purposes per another citizen-led ballot named Proposition 1 in 2018, and the subsequent opening of Michigan’s first recreational cannabis sales establishments in 2019.

While some say that Michigan legislators have been slow to move in decriminalizing cannabis, some say that the pause is not for lack of thought or intention, rather budget cuts due to COVID-19 and the importance of a strong social equity component to any finalized legislation, with the idea that we can just fix that later. Perhaps they’ve learned a thing or two from watching California cities try — and fail — to effectively implement meaningful social equity programs.

Like many US municipalities, both Detroit proper and Michigan as a state have each seen their share of red tape and difficulties in strategically and ethically moving forward in a post-criminalization world. Now, with licensees and professionals from across Michigan’s cannabis supply chain attending and presenting at this year’s Detroit cannabis conference, you are sure to keep growing with the post-COVID-19 Michigan cannabis world!
