DaySavers and Coalition Partners Launch the Higher Potential Cannabis Scholarship with over $25,000 in Resources Available

For many, the world presents so many opportunities in life that nailing down plans for the future can be daunting.

But for some, the calling is loud and clear, and one track that many passionate folks find meaning and purpose in is the world of cannabis. Weed folk are a persistent bunch, from the days of prohibition to present day where cannabis remains federally illegal, the barriers only present obstacles for the dedicated to work through.

From budtenders to cultivators, to chemists and leaders of industry, the folks who fill those shoes have dedicated their time and energy to building a cannabis economy for the love of the plant.

But with the cannabis industry being a fringe, gray-area space to many who either don’t support or don’t understand the benefits of cannabis, opportunities for advancement and education can be sparse. This led a collective group of industry leaders to take action on their own, pooling resources from their vast range of experience and knowledge to support the dreamers: the next generation of our industry.

Coined the Higher Potential Scholarship Coalition, over 100 award contributions have been curated by scholarship partners highlighting their specialty and expertise in the industry. And the process to apply is simple: select an opportunity to, and in 500 words or less, share your background, passion for cannabis, involvement with the plant and the industry, your educational pursuits, and your goals around cannabis.

The Grand Prize winner will receive a $1,420 cash scholarship from DaySavers, organizers of the inaugural Higher Potential Scholarship, in addition to their opportunity of choice. Applications are open and run through September 1, 2025 – though select awards have a mid-August deadline due to specific award timelines.

For those currently working or studying in cannabis, as well as those with goals of joining the industry, these award contributions offer inclusive, developmental opportunities and industry access that are geared toward uplifting and upskilling students and professionals in cannabis.

The following Coalition members have graciously contributed the following opportunities to the cannabis leaders of tomorrow, including:

DaySavers, the consumer smoking accessories brand of Custom Cones USA, was born out of a dream by founders Harrison Bard (CEO) and Fredrik Rading (COO) after leaving Amazon for greener pastures.

This trend extends to coalition partners, like Jessica Ferranti, former CRO of Cannabis & Tech Today who founded the women-led Mycelia Group to bring her cannabis industry expertise and executive leadership to support startups and power players alike.

Or Kate Avruch, who, with over a decade of experience in the industry, founded Operator Academy, a platform dedicated to training the cannabis manufacturing workforce.

The Higher Potential Scholarship was formed with these dreams in mind, to equip the driven with resources and opportunities that deepen their ties to the industry and support their dreams in cannabis.

All with dreams and goals in cannabis are encouraged to apply, and through the support of Higher Potential Scholarship Coalition partners, those dreams can become a reality.
